Light Is a Material, Too

Daylight shapes how a room is used more than almost any finish. We treat it as a material from the first sketch.

When we start a project, we map where the light falls through the day before we decide where anything goes. A kitchen that catches morning sun is used differently from one that only comes alive at night.

Design for the whole day

Window positions, reveal depths, and reflective surfaces all change how light behaves. Small adjustments can make a north-facing room feel generous rather than cold.

Artificial lighting should follow the same thinking. Layered, warm sources let a space shift gently from day to evening.
